Teachers and Students

What is the difference between a teacher and a student? A teacher has the knowledge and the student is seeking that knowledge, right? Well, that is one perception. In reality, sometimes we are teachers and sometimes we are students.

Teachers do have knowledge and so do students. It is a teacher’s job to help a student unlock the doors to the students own wisdom. This is exactly what the Hierophant in the tarot does. The Hierophant has the keys to the door of wisdom, but it is up to the student to unlock the door. The teacher may be very conscious of what he or she is doing or may not have a clue. Sometimes it just takes the right energy or chemistry to click between the student and the teacher.

Everyone has access to all knowledge and it is within each of us. We have our own internal teachers to consult and with which to work. Some people tap into this internal knowing very easily and others need some guidance to get there.

I’ve had people call me their “Guru”. And it may be that I spark something in them that helps to connect them to their own wisdom. One of my teachers always said that G.U.R.U. means “Gee You Are You”. In the end, you are your own guru, your own greatest teacher. That is why it is always important to pay attention to everything that comes out of your mouth, because it may be helping others, but the messages are always meant for you, as well.

So, get out there and BE a student, BE a teacher, and then just BE.
